Hot chocolate is a comforting drink that nearly everyone loves, however traditional store-bought packages are riddled with artificial flavors and chemicals. While those types of cocoa mixes might work in a pinch to curb a craving, this homemade superfood hot chocolate is just as easy to make and much more nutritious!
Instead of being filled with artificial ingredients and chemicals, this hot chocolate recipe contains superfoods such as turmeric, cinnamon and coconut oil. Even hot chocolate’s base of cocoa powder is rich in nutrients, depending on the type of cocoa powder that is used. Coconut oil adds not only heart-healthy fatty acids to this hot cocoa recipe but also contributes immune boosting and energy boosting nutrients. Combined with turmeric which is known for it’s ability to combat inflammation in the body, this superfood hot chocolate recipe is an inflammation fighting super drink that can help to boost overall health and wellness.

If you have no aversions to dairy, swap out the almond milk for non-fat or 2% milk for an even creamier hot chocolate. This will also increase the protein content!
A creamier dairy-free option to use is canned coconut milk, however this will increase the calories and fat content significantly.
