Smoothies are by far the easiest and simplest way to sneak some extra nutrients into your diet. If done right you can have anywhere from three to five different fruits and veggies hidden within your smoothie – without even knowing it! That isn’t even including all of the other superfood ingredients that you can hide in there as well, such as coconut oil, hemp seeds, chia seeds and even turmeric.
This strawberry cauliflower smoothie is a perfect example of hiding vegetables in a smoothie. The Cauliflower is blended smooth into the drink along with the other ingredients, leaving behind no trace or flavor. What cauliflower does add is not only an insanely fluffy texture, but also an incredible amount of nutrients. As an added bonus keeping the cauliflower raw ensures that no nutrients are being broken down or lost by exposure to heat. It’s a win-win!
Cauliflower provides a high amount of vitamin C as well as vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, magnesium, phosphorus, fiber, vitamin B6, folate, potassium and manganese. It even contains a cancer-fighting antioxidant known as sulforaphane, a sulfur compound that has been shown to kill cancer cells, thus slowing any tumor growth. Talk about a Superfood!
In addition to cauliflower, this Smoothie contains strawberries for added nutrients, plain Greek yogurt for protein and coconut oil for essential healthy fatty acids. Not only will this smoothie make for a filling meal or snack but it will also help to contribute to your overall health and well-being.
