Like all anabolic steroids, there is no one Deca Durabolin dosage that works for all bodies. Some people tolerate certain steroids better than others, so each time you try something new, it is important to take the time to titrate the dose until you find the optimal amount for your needs.
Deca Durabolin Dosage for Performance Enhancement
Of course, in order to decide what sort of dose will work best for you, it helps to have an average figure. During bulking cycles, where Deca use is most prevalent, the average dose is between 600mg and 700mg per week.
However, some men, and particularly those who have a lot of experience with anabolic steroids, use as much as 800mg per week. What’s more, kicking off a cutting cycle with a dosage between 400mg and 600mg per week can also provide incredible strength and muscle mass retention. Deca offers pain relief for the joints and the muscles alike during these cycles, too.
Goal Min Weekly Dose Max Weekly Dose
Even with these doses in mind, you may need less than shown here to avoid side effects. This is why it’s important to titrate your dosage – so you can discover what works best for your needs.
How Much Is too Much?
According to expert steroid users, 600mg per week is more than most people need during bulking cycles. The very small percentage of people who boost that dosage up to 800mg per week are those who have a slower response to steroids and who need more in order to produce the same results.
Even with all of this in mind, everyone’s tolerance is different. While your gym buddy might be able to take 800mg per week with no problem, you might only be able to handle 300mg per week without experiencing serious Deca Durabolin side effects.
Where to Start your Deca Durabolin Dosage
If you have never used before, you should pair it only with testosterone. If you have never used testosterone for performance enhancement, you should try a test-only cycle before running Deca. Then, start with a relatively low Deca dosage of 100mg for the first week. The second week, up the dose to 200mg.
Finally, for the third week, increase the dose to 300mg and hold it there for a few weeks. If you do not see (or feel) the results you expected, go ahead and increase to 400mg – but never exceed 400mg per week for your first cycle. Your total cycle length should never exceed 16 weeks, and 12 weeks is a great starting point.
If Things Get Bothersome
If you start to notice side effects, such as the beginning stages of gynecomastia, excessive water retention, or high blood pressure despite using anti-estrogen medications to prevent them, then your Deca dosage is likely too high for your body.
Just as you titrated your dose upward, begin to titrate back down if you notice these bothersome side effects. As an example, if you were taking four 100mg doses per week, use four 75mg doses per week, instead.
This will shave 100mg per week off of your overall dose, and you should notice a difference. If not, go down to three 75mg doses per week.
For a very small percentage of men, there may be no beneficial dosage that is tolerable. All anabolic steroids are different, and Deca is certainly no exception.
If you experience bothersome side effects at doses lower than 300mg per week, you will likely be better off trying a different steroid altogether – especially if you’re interested in adding muscle mass. Alternatives include Dianabol, Anadrol, Trenbolone, and others.
Don’t Forget Your Supplements
No Deca dosage is safe if you fail to account for potential side effects. Most of the side effects are due to the estrogen conversion and testosterone suppression.
Both of these can be detrimental to your health and physique, so it’s important to account for them ahead of time. There are three things you will need to add to your first cycle to determine your perfect dosage.
- Testosterone – Deca will bind to the same receptors as testosterone, essentially telling your body that there’s plenty to go around. This will inevitably cause your body to stop producing its own testosterone, leaving you at risk for symptoms associated with low testosterone. These include fatigue, fat gain, and muscle atrophy, just to name a few. Supplementing your Deca Durabolin cycle with testosterone can prevent this, and many men prefer testosterone enanthate because it is affordable and easy to use.
- Aromatase inhibitors– Deca Nandrolone will also convert to estrogen in your body, though not as readily as some other steroids. Because of this, you will need to consider adding a product called an aromatase inhibitor to your cycle. These block the aromatase enzyme that binds to the Deca and converts it to estrogen. Failing to do this, especially if you’re sensitive to estrogenic effects, may lead to symptoms like bloating and gynecomastia.
- SERMs – Once you’ve determined the perfect dosage and your cycle has come to a close, it’s vital to use PCT, which will help kickstart your body’s natural testosterone production. Products like Clomid and Nolvadex are perfect for this; they are selective estrogen receptor modulators, or SERMs, that stimulate the production of LH (luteinizing hormone) and FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), thereby boosting natural testosterone levels.
Is There a Safe Deca Dosage for Women?
Though you might find examples of women using a very low dosage for performance enhancement, this is not advisable. The risk of virilization (the development of male physical characteristics) is far too great with this product, so the risk outweighs any potential benefit.
Women should avoid using and instead turn to time-tested products that have been proven safer. Alternatives include Winstrol and Anavar, which can offer bulking or cutting boosts depending on diet, exercise plans, and dose.
While the maximum dosage for performance enhancement is 800mg per week, not all men can tolerate this much. You should carefully measure your Deca Durabolin dosage and be sure to increase it slowly but steadily at first until you discover the amount that is right for you.
