The Perfect Bodybuilding Mindset

Bodybuilding Mindset

Bodybuilding MindsetWhen it comes to bodybuilding, what you do mentally is every bit as important as what you do physically. The right bodybuilding mindset will help you achieve greater results in a shorter amount of time, while also having a whole lot more fun doing it.

Have a Written Plan

In order to develop a bodybuilding mindset, you must first come up with a written plan. Include in this plan what your goals are, how you plan to achieve them, and a timeline for success. Set benchmark goals along with a schedule for completing them, and name some rewards you plan to give yourself when you do. Be sure your goals are achievable; otherwise, your plan may actually discourage rather than encourage you. Keep your written plan handy so you can refer to it whenever you reach a training slump or are otherwise feeling discouraged.

Partner with a Friend

If you’re one of those people who has a hard time getting into a bodybuilding mindset, partner with a friend so that the two of you can hold each other accountable. Just knowing you have a workout buddy to answer to can help motivate you to exercise on days when you might otherwise be tempted to skip your workout. The two of you will be there to cheer each other on, and may even decide to come up with a friendly competition that will encourage you both to work even harder than you already are.

Other Motivating Tips

Coming up with a fitness plan and finding a workout buddy are not the only things you can do to develop a bodybuilding mindset. Here are a few other things you may want to consider doing:

  • Buy yourself a new outfit so that you will have something you can look forward to wearing.
  • Enter a bodybuilding competition.
  • Celebrate small successes.
  • Associate with others who have a positive attitude so that their bodybuilding mindset will rub off on you.
  • Change up your workout routine to prevent boredom from setting in.

Motivational Quotes

In addition to doing all of the above things, keep these motivational quotes in mind:

  • “The single biggest mistake that most beginners make is putting 100% of their effort into the positive (concentric) part of the rep, while paying no attention to the negative (eccentric) segment.” Dorian Yates
  • “One of the greatest experiences in life is achieving personal goals that others said would be impossible to attain. Be proud of your success and share your story with others.” Robert Cheeke
  • “For me, life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer” Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Developing the right bodybuilding mindset is every bit as important as using the right form and practicing good nutrition. If you are struggling to achieve the results you desire, a change in the way you think about exercise could be what is needed in order to help turn things around.
