Why hemp seeds? Hemp seeds are an incredible superfood filled with both healthy omega-3 fatty acids as well as protein. In fact, hemp seeds are a natural “complete” protein source, which means that hemp seeds provide all nine of the essential amino acids that our bodies need to grow, develop and recover.

Chocolate Hemp Seed Smoothie

Makes 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • ½ banana
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • ½ cup ice
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds

Directions:

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender.
  2. Blend on high until smooth. Add more ice if desired.

Notes:

To make this smoothie 100% plant-based simply swap out the whey protein powder for a plant-based one. That simple swap will also make this recipe vegan.
